I can hear you you groaning now, “Salads?! Gross!” That’s fine. Salads are not for everyone–feel free to ‘Like’ this post and go about your business. However, for those of us looking for healthy options in an unhealthy city, Lettuce Eat is one of the best options available–they are quick, delicious, and affordable. Their menu offers ten pre-planned salads–listed on the menu below–that you can get as a salad or a wrap.
My favorite salad from Lettuce Eat is the Caesar. To me, there is nothing better than a Caesar salad, and Lettuce Eat makes a perfect one–each and every time. I frequent this establishment at least once a week, and I have yet to be dissatisfied with a meal. I am not going to say that Lettuce Eat has the best Caesar salad, but it is in the running. (Additionally, their Steakhouse salad is the bomb!)
Of course, if none of the aforementioned salads are to your liking, you can custom build your own. However, be forewarned, with all the options available, creating your own custom salad can be a little overwhelming.
Having worked at a “healthy alternative” restaurant before, I was amazed to find that Lettuce Eat makes their own homemade dressings. For as reasonable as their prices are, I assumed that they were outsourcing the expensive and daunting task of whipping up sixteen homemade dressings. Kudos to you, Lettuce Eat. Look at you…going the extra mile!
The restaurants location, in East Memphis’ Carrefour shopping center, makes it central to large corporations, like Service Master and International Paper. Additionally, with all the office complexes near Poplar and Ridgeway, this area has been in dire need of a healthy alternative to the daily lunch hour for quite some time.
This brings us to both the positive and negative for this restaurant.
I have been inside during a lunch rush. The employees of Lettuce Eat perform like a well oiled machine. They quickly process the orders, getting the customers their food in a very timely manner. However, with all the hustle and bustle, Lettuce Eat is left lacking in the “atmosphere” category. Then again, I’m sure a competitor (like Subway, Lenny’s, or Tropical Smoothie Cafe) does not have–nor care to have–an atmosphere. I personally do not care to feel like I am eating in a cafeteria (or a Subway or Lenny’s), but I understand the time crunch of the lunch hour.
If you are looking for a better alternative for office lunches, Lettuce Eat has catering options that will blow your mind (and the minds of your coworkers). I don’t know about you, but I often get tired of eating pizza when I’m at work, late at night, in a strategy session. I mean, I can only eat so many hamburgers a week.
Bottom line, Lettuce Eat is helping both my wallet and my waist line. With high quality food, at an affordable price, it is no wonder that Lettuce Eat has done so well on sites like UrbanSpoon.
